Friend Andrea Collab
I love creating songs with groups! I'm beginning bit by bit to share the polished versions of some of these songs. Below are my notes on songwriting process and who was involved.

The song “Follow it” began at the Berwick Community Garden when young friend Lennox wanted to write a song about rain to rainbows:) I'm so glad that she suggested it because it's not a topic I would have thought of there and it's now one of my favorite songs!
We started this song with my normal group writing process- how does the topic make us feel, finding a chord that matches the feeling, starting to sing whatever comes up on the topic. Basically it's lots of experimenting with sounds and words, then checking in as a group to see if the pieces match our intention for the song.
The original version of the song said “It's how I feel in the storm, in the rain, etc.” and as I refined the song later on it became “Here we are in the storm, the rain, etc.” It's really a ballad of getting through life's storms- because the rainbow is there waiting for us.
A year later, when I started recording the Growing in Song series, Lennox came to my barn stall studio to record the rainstorm percussion. She did a fantastic job and it was an incredibly special moment for me to have her here working on a song that wouldn't have existed without her:)
