This is the first release in a collection of songs for children and families.

The songs range from playful to reflective, but all are grounded in little life lesson seeds that grew into song.

My hope is that you will find something for every age of heart and ears. More to come in this collection, later in the summer:)

At the farm

I went over to the farm one day
Looking for a friend, so we could play
I saw a [horse] so I said hi
But I was confused by the reply
‘Cause the [horse] said [neigh…]

I realized at the farm one day
That if I wanted a friend to play
I’d have to listen with my heart
‘Cause that’s where the real friendship starts

Yellow like bananas

Like a daffodil or a wish fulfilled
Like a little bird flapping past my windowsill
Like the chirping she makes, the time she takes
To send me the message ‘bout this yellow today

You’re yellow like bananas in a monkey’s tree
Like a silly face laughing with me
Like a sassy shoe or a happy tune
A big spaghetti dinner in the light of the moon
Yellow, you’re so yellow
Oh yellow, you’re so yellow

When we first met, you brightened my day
With a friendly smile and a lemonade
We sat down to chat- I was feeling gray
But even in the clouds I can walk a yellower way

Like a chance we take or a fear we break
Like a little rubber ducky and the sound it makes
Like a long, hot sun on school vacation
Like when we get together all the memories we’re making

They’re yellow like bananas in a monkey’s tree
Like a silly face laughing with me
Like a sassy shoe or a happy tune
A big spaghetti dinner in the light of the moon
Yellow, you’re so yellow
Oh yellow, you’re so yellow

Doo doo doo….

You’re yellow like bananas in a monkey’s tree
Like a silly face laughing with me
Like a sassy shoe or a happy tune
A big spaghetti dinner in the light of the moon
Yellow, you’re so yellow
Oh yellow, you’re so yellow

(repeat chorus)

Friendship feels so yellow
Oh yellow- I like yellow!

Patience

We planned the garden, chose the seeds
Mapped out where every crop would be
Started some seeds inside safe from the cold breezes

One sunny day we tilled the ground
We spread compost and manure around
Worked in the cover crop, the soil turned a rich, deep brown

We planted carrots, planted peas
Transplanted lettuce, planted corn and beans
I thought the only thing left was to cover up the seeds

But I need patience
Patience is what it takes to grow
Patience, patience
Deep inside we know that it feels good to reach a goal,
But what matters most are the steps that help us grow

We pull the weeds out with our hands
Turn back around and they’ve grown up again
But we’ve gotta keep going to give our crops a chance

Build higher fences for the deer
Watch out for bugs, but don’t give in to fear
Because the process matters just as much as the getting there or here

Oh I need patience
Patience is what it takes to grow
Patience, patience
Deep inside we know that it feels good to reach a goal,
But what matters most are the steps that help us grow

Too much rain or not enough water
We do our best to compensate
But even when we’re working our hardest
We know what else it takes

Oh it takes patience
Patience is what it takes to grow
Patience, patience
Deep inside we know that it feels good to reach a goal,
But what matters most are the steps that help us grow
